Bachelor of Urban and Rural Planning (BURP)

   

 

The Discipline offers a four year Bachelor Degree program (BURP) consisting of eight terms, where evaluation is made on the basis of Grade Point Average (GPA) system.

The BURP program is signed with an aim to create analytical ability among the students on problems based on theoretical support and practical field works with the ultimate objective to search for probable solutions. Students are taught theoretical and professional skills to cope with real world situation. Intensive training is imparted on communication skill, decision making and mapping skill applying GIS, remote sensing and SPSS based data analysis supported by the use of most up to date computer technology. Major theoretical courses have their supplementary practical courses with real world problem exercises involving field visit, collection of spatial and non-spatial information, processing and analysis of data and searching for probable solutions. In addition to works, in the third year of the program, each student has to complete a two week long internship program in a planning/development agency in order to gain experience about real world situation of activities and functions. In the fourth year a student has to prepare a thesis on an issue relating to planning and development.
