Khulna University is the first public University in the southwestern region of Bangladesh established in 1987. Academic activities of the University commenced in 1991 with four disciplines. Urban and Rural Planning (URP) Discipline is one of the four pioneering disciplines of this University. URP Discipline introduced the four years undergraduate course in Urban and Rural Planning for the first time in Bangladesh. This is a multidisciplinary discipline to produce skilled planners for the country imbued with the most up-to-date and modern planning techniques. URP Disciple offers four years undergraduate and one and half year masters' degree in Urban and Rural Planning.
